Peter (He/Him),

Owner/Barber

Peter loves being a barber and building relationships with his clients! Classic haircuts, tight fades and fun mullets are a few of Peter’s specialties. Before becoming a barber, Peter studied Parks and Tourism Management at the University of Waterloo and has embarked on many backcountry and hiking adventures. Outside of the barber chair, Peter enjoys eating tasty local food, crushing a craft beer and grooming his beard – he hasn’t shaved in eight years!

Sydney (She/Her),

Owner/Stylist

Sydney started this company under our former name “Good Hair Co.” 5 years ago as a small 1-chair salon as has grown it to the thriving shop it is today. Hyping everyone up and curating the collection of goodies for the general store makes Sydney the heart and soul of the shop. She is a lover of “lobs”, shags, pixies and balayages. You can find Sydney shopping at a local thrift store, or walking around DTK with her two chihuahuas Wellington and Stanley (who often hang out at the shop!)

Jess (She/Her),

Shop Manager/Stylist

Jess completed her hair education at Voila Institute for Hair Design and has developed a particular love for shags, fashion colours, painting beautiful balayages and highlights. With her dry sense of humour, Jess has become who staff go to when they’re in need of a laugh. And if you find yourself with questions, she’s got answers- Jess is the manager, after all. In her free time, she loves to support local restaurants and see live music with friends.

Kelsey (She/Her),

Stylist

Kelsey is our “hair wizard” and enjoys making her clients feel cool and confident. Kelsey attended Voila Institute for Hair Design and enjoys cutting technical bobs, as well as painting balayage and highlights. When she’s not cutting hair or teaching yoga, Kelsey likes thrifting cool outfits (she is undisputed “best dressed” at the shop) and visiting the local tattoo shop for some fresh ink!

Oliver (They/He),

Barber

Oliver dedicated their barber craft to helping queer and trans folks feel at home and euphoric about their hair. For folks who find getting their hair cut to be sensory overload, or for those who wish for a Covid conscious appointment, Oliver offers cuts on Mondays (when the shop is traditionally closed) for a one-on-one experience. Some of his favourite cuts to do include mullets, crops, two-blocks, wolf cuts, and anything a little “out there”. Oliver took the queer and punk rite of passage of cutting friends hair in the bathroom quite literally, and has been obsessed with hair since. On their days off Oliver likes to play video games and tend to his zoo while listening to podcasts.
Jo (She/Her),

Stylist

Jo brings a whopping 20 years of experience in the industry having worked in Kitchener-Waterloo and Downtown Toronto. She loves expressing her creative side through edgy pixie cuts, bold fashion colours, mullets and bowl cuts (long live the mullet!). Jo’s got a knack for texture, curls, and beautiful blowouts! Outside of the salon, Jo spends her time with her Weiner dog, Izzy (who spends most of her days hanging out at the shop), or cookin’ up some heckin’ good vegan grub before she heads off to a concert!

Lilly (She/They),

Barber

Lilly brings warmth, personality and tons of talent to our team. A true community leader, she offers her clients much more than a great haircut. She takes pride in making sure her clients feel safe and seen for who they are. Her work as a barber has been featured in the magazine “Butch is Not a Dirty Word”. Her favourite types of haircuts are the “Coming Out Haircut”, the “Sporty Lesbian Undercut”, and the “Non-Binary/Masculine Skin Fade”. Regardless if you’re straight or a member of the Alphabet Mafia, you’re going to have an awesome cut and conversation with Lilly. When Lilly isn’t changing the world one haircut at a time, she’s revving her motorcycle, creating art, cuddling her cat Oscar, or spending time with her amazing partner Sara.

Jess A. (She/Her),

Stylist

Jess A. has been doing hair for 13 years. She is super passionate about creating looks for folks who want to be their authentic selves. Jess’s main focus is colour, whether she’s lightening and creating dimensional looks or bright contrasting rainbow works of art. When she’s not at the shop, you can find Jess hanging out with her cat, playing video games, or working on her veggie garden. To book with Jess, please visit https://www.jessamberhair.com/.

Bronwyn (She/Her),

Stylist

Bronwyn has been doing hair for 5 years. Her love of forming connections with community members and expressing her creativity led Bronwyn to get into the hair industry. Razor cuts, working with curls, blonding and colour corrections are among her favourite services. Bronwyn also loves expressing her creativity through updos and styling, so be sure to book with her for your special event styles! When Bronwyn isn’t at the shop, she spends her free time painting, crocheting, reading, and crafting.

Sierra (She/Her),

Sierra is a bright and bubbly character, who has been creating beautiful nail art for 7 years. Shortly after becoming certified in Esthetics, Sierra quickly found a passion for nail technologies. Sierra then went into several specialty programs, advancing her knowledge in nail health, new application and art methods, and proper hygiene practices.  Three years ago, Sierra completed her Certified Master Nail Professional Program, granting her the designation of CMNP. Sierra has travelled the world to compete and place in many competitions and her ultimate goal is for all clients to feel comfortable and excited about their experience! Specializing in intricate nail art, Sierra is always up for a challenge to create a new and exciting set. When she’s not slinging gel polishes, you can find her cuddling her 125lb lap dog, Banner, and watching the Marvel movies (in order) for the 87th time.

Josefina (She/Her),

Junior Barber

Josefina has been barbering for 6 years and loves the fine details involved in barber cuts and beard trims. She loves spending time with her children and family, her dog Millie, and tending to her plants. Of Chilean background, Josefina is fluent in Spanish. Whether its cooking or listening to Spanish music, Josefina is passionate about her culture. Josefina has a big personality and loves to laugh, making appointments with her a good time for everyone involved.

Beth (She/Her),

Junior Barber

A recent hair school graduate, Beth is our newest barber . Before entering the barbering world, Beth spent most of her working life in the kitchens of various local restaurants. Beth’s likes include: scouring used bookstores for Anne Rice novels, hanging with her cat (named Cat), chewing gum, and late-night ice cream. Her dislikes include: unruly crowds (but will brave the farmers market if it means getting the horseradish she likes), and fruit cups that are mostly just grapes. Being a fountain of miscellaneous facts and widespread interests makes conversations with Beth a breeze.

Jorjah (She/Her),

Aesthetician/Nail Tech

Jorjah’s interest in nails began with binge watching tutorials on YouTube. After Jorjah’s first set, she was hooked. Jorjah now has her Advanced Nail Technology Diploma. Jorjah’s favorite part of the nail service is nail art and seeing her clients visions come to life. She loves taking a crack at the latest trends, as well as the classics. Jorjah is also available for pedicures, waxing, and spray tans. Outside of work, she’s staying on top of nail trends, cuddling with her cats, or scoring at the thrift store.

Claire (She/Her),

Aesthetician

Claire is new to the beauty industry after looking for a change from the tattoo world. Claire has a particular love of pedicures, but is eager to perform other aesthetics services, such as waxing and spray tans. Her bubbly personality makes her a fun person to hang with while getting a service done! Outside of work, Claire can be found hanging out with her dog, Elvis, or whipping up some sweet treats with her collection of cookbooks.
